In a follow-up to their January study visit to Sacramento as part of Mayor Kevin Johnson’s participation in the 2010-2011 class of the Daniel Rose Fellowship program, the Rose Center organized a two-day panel visit to address new developments in the Railyards concerning the sports/ entertainment complex since its study visit from January 25-28. While the city’s goals of building an entertainment/ sports arena and intermodal transit facility in the Railyards are achievable and desirable, the panel said policy makers will need to commit to resolving key design challenges if they are to attain the public benefits envisioned in the adjacent districts of downtown and the future redevelopment of the Railyards, and the region as a whole.
