John J. Griffin, Jr. focuses his practice on real estate matters at Greenberg Traurig, where he represents developers, lending institutions and educational institutions. His areas of areas of concentration include development, permitting, educational institutions and education.
Some of his professional experience includes representing a major U.S. software company in connection with the permitting, development and sale-leaseback of its new corporate headquarters in Needham, Massachusetts; supervising, strategizing and arguing before the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts the case which secured the development permits for a quarry site on Route 128 in Weston, Massachusetts; representing a Boston college in connection with the permitting, construction and land use litigation related to the expansion of its football stadium; and representing Homart (a subsidiary of Sears) in connection with the acquisition, permitting, financing and redevelopment of Natick Mall and Shoppers World.
Griffin earned his LL.B. from Harvard Law School and A.B. from Boston College. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since its initial publication in 1983. Among his many professional affiliations and community engagments, Griffin serves on the executive committee of the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties (NAIOP), is former chair of ULI’s Development product council, and program chair of the ULI Boston District Council.
