Molly Urbina

Molly is President and CEO of Urbina Strategies, LLC providing expert land use and resilience consulting for private, public and non-profit sectors. She recently served as the Executive Director of the Colorado Resiliency and Recovery Office appointed by Gov. John Hickenlooper in January of 2014. She served four years as the resiliency and recovery leader of the state to coordinate the diverse and complex portfolio of disaster recovery and resiliency efforts with a sense of urgency. Working with federal, state and local partners to advocate for and leverage resources, develop relationships and long-term plans/strategies to support and empower Colorado. She led the Governor’s mission to build back stronger, safer and more resilient from the historic 2013 flooding while also shaping an adaptable and vibrant future.
Prior to her appointment with the Governor, Molly served as the Deputy Manager of Denver’s Community Planning and Development Department from 2005 to 2014 as an appointee of the Mayor of Denver. She oversaw the city’s planning and zoning/building functions encompassing broad city visioning and tactical plan implementation. She was integral in the drafting and enactment of Denver’s citywide zoning code rewrite and mapping, passed by City Council in 2010.
Before joining city government, Molly spent much of her career in the construction and real estate development industry. She served as the director of government affairs for Oakwood Homes and as the director of development services for CRL Associates handling government affairs and land use consulting for local and regional clients.
Molly has served on the Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver board since 2013 and is currently President. She also serves on the national board of EcoDistricts beginning in 2017 and the Denver County Courts Judicial Nomination Commission since 2015.
